It means HOLD. In other words, to buy it and then hold onto it. Don’t sell it. Wait until the price goes up and just hold onto your crypto.

So, why HODL? Just a typo?

Yes, actually. 🙂 Back in the very early days of Bitcoin, a forum thread was started in the Bitcoin Talk forum where a member by the name of GameKyuubi said he was “hodling”. While it was misspelt, it caught on over time and became part of the crypto lingo.

Over time, it was said to stand for “Hold On For Dear Life”. You be the judge. 😉
